BANDS
DYSTONIA

This groovy thrash/death metal project from Tyumen, Russia, is formed back in 2011 as a thrash metal band covering songs by Annihilator, Exodus, Metallica, Sepultura etc., yet not devoid of ambitions of becoming a proper band. In 2013 DYSTONIA presents two demo songs (‘Holocaust’ and ‘Justice’), outlining the sound and the concept of its upcoming debut album. As the line-up of the band becomes more solid, the song-making process progresses. In 2016 DYSTONIA releases ‘World Wide War’ (full- length) and a lyric video for ‘Starvation’ (an album track). The genre of this album can be described as thrash/death metal. ‘World Wide War’ line-up: Ilya Chikotin (guitars), Alexander Zyablitskikh (guitars), Anton Malakhov (bass), Max Kazanin (drums) and Alexander Cherepanov (vocals). After this album Max Kazanin and Alexander Cherepanov quit the band and are replaced with Denis Kovalev (drums) and Alexey Yershov (vocals). This line-up has remained unchanged to this day. In 2017 DYSTONIA releases a music video unveiling the sound of its second album with downtuned guitars and low vocals. The band announces its second album titled ‘Reflection’ scheduled for 2020. DYSTONIA changes its genre to groovy thrash/death metal. Some time later the guitarist quits the band. One year later he returns, and, with renewed vigour the musicians commence the recording of their third album, released in May 2024. This time the album lyrics are in Russian. To promote the album DYSTONIA releases two music videos for ‘Hladniy Nozsh’ (Cold Knife) and ‘Zerkala’ (Mirrors).
