On their second album this project from Rybinsk (Russia) continues to develop the concept of incorporating Russian folklore into such an orthodox genre like doom metal! This time the material is dedicated to recruitment and based on the songs of the 19th century Russian North soldiers. "Ne Mir, no mech" (Not Peace, but Sword) is the only album track with the lyrics that do not belong to the folk art! It is a truly hard and bitter story about parting with family, plaintive longing for home, fear of the unknown and courage in the face of death. This one-hour six-track story is much harsher than the bands debut. It is heavier, scarier and sincerer. New features include: new female vocalist, tangibly enhanced quality and relevance of the sound and departure from funeral doom metal towards atmospheric folk-oriented music! The album design features genuine photos and documents of the ancestors of the members of VO SKORBYAKH. The album deserves to be considered a notable milestone for the Russian doom metal scene.
