SIETA
Sieta – Slavic folk metal project by Aleksandr Mokin, the leader of a death metal band Skyglow, that consists of musicians from Skyglow and Critical Extravasation. Its debut album "Novgorod" was recorded in 2019-2020 and mixed by Holy Tube Studio. The album tells about the baptism of Novgorod in 991, the background of which was the decision of the Kyiv knyaz (prince) Vladimir I to convert from paganism to Christianity. Knyaz himself and his retinue were the first to be baptized, then temples with pagan sanctuaries were destroyed and a mass baptism of Kievans was organized. Then Vladimir wanted to spread Christianity throughout Russia. At the end of the 10th century, Novgorod was one of the most important cities, the main political, craft and trade center, a stronghold of the Slavic pagan religion. After the tragic defeat of Novgorod, pagan culture was destroyed, and Christianity spread further.
