Funeral Oppression is a band from the Ural town Ozersk, Russia. The band was formed in November 2013 by Ravenblack, the leader of the local black metal band Coldness and Void, who gave the ideas for the lyrics of the project. Currently the band's activity is limited to studio work. The first album “The Prisoners of Life” was recorded and mixed by the musicians in 2014. The band intentionally diverges from the canonical black metal in search of the new methods of description of the main idea of the album - on acceptance of death as an integral part of human existence, about the “dark at the end of the tunnel” (as it is said in the title track). The listener is caught in a moment between the life full of frustration and longing and the inevitable ending followed by nothing. “Funeral Oppression” is a feeling of the impending end of life, when all seemingly important things pale into insignificance. The spirit of despair embodied in music.
