VEIN OF HATE "Dualist"
Vein of Hate, a quintet from Gomel, Belarus, formed in 2005, and plays industrial-tinged, technical Death Metal. After a respectable amount of demo and EP releases, the band finally got a chance to record their debut album, Dualist, which was released as a joint venture of three labels: More Hate Productions, NitroAtmosfericum Records and Rebirth the Metal Productions. Technical and extreme Death Metal is what the album definitely represents, with some occasional industrial and experimental samples being thrown in for good measure. First off, it cannot be denied that the game that is going on Dualist is not any easy, taken-for-granted type of game by any means. The Vein of Hate camp is packed by an immense amount of playing skills, but unfortunately all the stuff that they perform on this record misses one important factor: it is not grabbing you, no matter how hard you try to like it. In fact, there is a pretty chaotic, and could I even say pretty nerve-wrecking feeling on this record, although in the very same breath it should be mentioned that whenever the standard Death Metal instruments (guitar, bass, drums and death grunts) get to play the main role, things tend to be a bit more accessible and tolerable. But when those robotic, industrial-sample effects enter in, the less you start to appreciate the album. Vein of Hate would do much better without them at all. If you are a fan of extreme Death Metal and those industrial sample effects do not scare you away, then you may well enjoy this record. But if you rather want to enjoy your doses of death in a more traditional way, then perhaps your lovely dog will find a better use for this disc.
